February 1, 2020 - Sacred Heart Retreat House hosts a yearly conference for women and this year it is entitled "Healed by Grace". A whole day conference full of inspiration and spirit filled sessions given by a renowned Catholic speaker and blogger, Carrie Bucalo and our very own Sr. Maria Kolbe, OCD.
The first talk given by Carrie Bucalo shares about in the darkness and silence of our wounds, the Child Jesus is here to surprise us with His 'little way.' God becomes a child in our arms so that we can respond to his love with honesty and freedom. With God's beauty, restored in our midst, we can discover our true identity and our greatest calling.

In this talk, Sr. Maria Kolbe shared how God progressively healed St. Therese through His Merciful Love. For St. Therese, God stooped down to her through prayer, scripture, and self-surrender. God also deigns to stoop down to us in this same way as well.

The last talk given by Carie Bucalo shares about how God's face haunts the wounded and the abused, but we do not have to settle for this. We can search for his true beauty in love and truth, and reject all the counterfeits, and all the lies. We can learn to discern God's face and his presence through the example of the prophet Elijah.

Somehow we have to ask this question if we really believe that God really loves us. God really does but we can only truly believe if we deepen our relationship with God. God knows us too well that He knows all that we have in our hearts, he only desires us to share it with Him in prayer.
